The Coach House is the ideal base from which to explore the charms of this beautiful market town. There’s plenty to discover in the surrounding area, too.

First wander down the hill and if you’re not immediately distracted by a visit to the garden centre, you might like to pop for a swim at the public pool, or take in the latest film at the independent cinema on the riverfront. Turn right and cross the railway line to the river where you can watch the activity of the rowing and sailing clubs, test your knowledge of the multitude of wading birds or visit the newly restored Tide Mill. Alternatively, take a left and saunter up to Market Hill past shops selling antiques, toys, jewellery, gifts and chic designer homeware and reach the quirky Neopolitan shades of higgledy-piggledy houses on the ancient square. Here you can sample fine dining and real ales, take part in a knitting workshop, have your violin repaired, or shop for designer clothes. Down the hill again, stock up on your art supplies, then saunter along the Thoroughfare taking in the numerous bookshops, coffee houses and craft gallery. www.choosewoodbridge.co.uk

Just out of town there’s the famous Anglo-Saxon burial site at Sutton Hoo; www.nationaltrust.org.uk/suttonhoo but if you want to travel further afield, take a train or bus, or drive to the quaint seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold, visit the castles at Orford and Framlingham; www.english-heritage.org.uk or take in the shops, galleries and world-renowned concert venue at Snape Maltings. www.snapemaltings.co.uk www.aldeburgh.co.uk We are only 20 miles from RSPB Minsmere www.rspb.org.uk and many villages within this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) have a gentle, unspoilt quality and outstanding old buildings which give them considerable charm. www.suffolkcoastandheaths.org There are 3500 miles of public rights of way in Suffolk, and endless walks from a gentle stroll to a brisk hike; we have plenty of suggestions for themed routes to suit your interests - wildlife, churches, heritage, evening walks to hear nightingales or nightjars . . .

We hope to welcome you soon.
